My clinical background is broad and my current focus is helping people identify and effectively manage issues that prevent them from leading happy, fulfilled lives. Common concerns include: relationships, work, anxiety, life balance, goal-setting, loss, depression, trauma, managing transitions and enhancing quality of life.
I have worked in a wide range of counseling centers, hospitals, community and private clinical settings. These experiences have enhanced my clinical skill set, and have also allowed me to work with many wonderful colleagues and clients.
My clinical training and research has also focused on assisting people who are dealing with chronic illness. I completed a three-year post-doctoral fellowship at Mount Sinai School of Medicine where I worked with cancer patients coping with their diagnosis. I continue to collaborate and publish with researchers and clinicians from Hackensack University Medical Center, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Mount Sinai School of Medicine as well as other colleagues across the country.
On the academic side, I served as an adjunct professor for New York University's graduate program in counseling psychology before moving on to William Paterson University(WPU) in 2004. At WPU, I've taught many different courses at both at the undergraduate and graduate level. In the graduate program, I train student clinicians to conduct effective, ethical and compassionate work with clients. In addition to teaching Clinical Practice, I currently teach Health Psychology for both the undergraduate and graduate programs and I greatly enjoy working with students. I am a tenured, full professor.
